The Importance of Mental Health: Bell Let's Talk

Today is Bell Let's Talk Day, a significant initiative aimed at raising awareness and support for mental health. By texting YOUTH to 45678, you can donate $5, and Bell will match your contribution, doubling the impact of your support.


As the face behind "Live Well with Michelle," my primary focus is on health, wellness, and fitness for adult women. However, my journey has also deeply connected me with children and young adults. From teaching dance at Elan Dance Arts to my years with the YMCA and the Boys and Girls Club of London, and currently, for the past 17 years, working at the University of Western Ontario’s Campus Recreation with students, I have seen firsthand the importance of mental health support for all ages.


I deeply believe in the power of fitness and its positive impact on mental health, I also recognize that fitness alone isn’t a cure-all. Many youth struggle with access to fitness as a means of support, and with the influence of social media, fitness is often viewed through an aesthetic lens. This can sometimes contribute to issues like body dysmorphia and other disorders.

Mental health is crucial for overall well-being and quality of life. Many people, especially young adults, face significant challenges and stressors that can impact their mental health.
